The Fire Pit – Local BBQ Smokehouse in Wake Forest, NC

4 out of 5 stars

BBQ from Fire Pit

I’ve grown to learn my dear readers appreciate photos way more than a rambling description filled with synonyms for “delicious.” So here is your photo goodness.

The family stopped over at the Fire Pit BBQ Smokehouse after a wonderful morning of hayrides and fun at Hillridge Farms in Youngsville. I picked up the two meat plate ($10.95) with the potato salad, baked beans and hush puppies, as you see here. I appreciated every delectable, moist piece of meat on my plate. And I was surprised to really enjoy the sides, too. Because often they are an afterthought at some BBQ places.

Hubs had the smoked burger with coleslaw, which was a daily special, but he wasn’t as excited about his burger as I was about my meats. I thought all the sides we tried were amazing with the exception of the macaroni and cheese (!). My son had the macaroni and it wasn’t very cheesy. It was clearly homemade but the white sauce was very floury. He wouldn’t eat it, although he devoured all the hush puppies in sight.

I’d highly recommend you stop by and check out The Fire Pit, or even bring out of town guests to this tucked-away gem. I think next we’ll get a big takeout order to enjoy while we watch the football game with friends.

The service here was very attentive, too. Staff came by to bring out our food, refill drinks and ask us how everything was. They clearly take pride in the food.

  • Thanks for the review, Mandy! I had thought about trying this place but the reviews were all over the place for it. Next time I’m up near WF.
