Oliver Twist

4 out of 5 stars

Glen and I came here for our 2 year anniversary and it was delightful. Mood lighting was cool, with red fabric hanging from the lighting and a decor using lots of fabrics and pillows. They have a Monday night dinner special that we didn’t decide to go with – $35 for three tapas, a bottle of wine and dessert. We didn’t feel like wine, but I’m glad I got to try a martini. I had a lemon drop martini, which was perfect. We tried four tapas, which we ate almost all of.

Tuna tartare with mango was super fresh. I enjoyed the flavorful but lightly spicy italian sausage stuffed mushrooms, they featured a sliver of parmesan on top. Fried calamari was light and tender, but I would have preferred a more traditional dipping sauce than aoli. The crab dip was decent but not one of my favorites, but the pita bread it came with was good.

We didn’t end up trying the desserts. It turns out Oliver Twist was hosting open mike night that Monday. Fun at first but the song selection was slightly depressing.

Half price tapas on Tuesday would be a great time to try this place out if you haven’t been before. I’ll definitely be back. Check the website for their daily specials, they have belly dancing on weekends.
