Char Grill has the most amazing burgers! They have a crispy charcoal grilled exterior and soft squishy buns. Char-Grill is an old-fashioned burger joint opened in 1960 – you jot down your order on a slip of paper and slide it through a slot.

 The chefs cook up your burgers behind glass over a flaming grill.  I love to get the char burgers with cheese, fries and a chocolate shake.  Another option is the hamburger steak which actually is a long burger on a more sub-shaped roll. Or you can get those red hot dogs that the natives love. (Read a little more about red hot dogs in this News & Observer article.) No matter what you get, it’s cheap and made to order.
Char-Grill has locations in Raleigh, Durham and Cary. I crave this place constantly, it’s one of the first local places I discovered living in Raleigh.
