Butchers Market – Local Food Find in Raleigh, Cary and Charlotte, NC

The Small-Box Store Raleigh Has Been Waiting For

Butcher’s Market a while ago spun off from a franchise to become independent and now the family of three store locations carries predominantly local foods. They have a surprising selection of unique and exotic items, health foods, gourmet meats and cheeses and local beers and wine. It feels like stepping into your own locally-powered Fresh Market!

Exotic Meat
Exotic Meat

The market specializes in meats, including house-made sausage and aged steaks as well as exotic meat and game that we enjoyed looking at in the freezer case. In addition, the market has a deli counter where you can order a sandwich with the in-house meats. Recently I stopped by and ordered a lunch box, which comes with a sandwich made with house-roasted meats and fresh bakery bread, plus a bag of chips and a small serving of homemade dip and crackers. A great deal for $8-$10, and way better than a chain sandwich shop.

We stopped in to use a coupon for buy 1 pound of sausage or bacon get 1 free. But we didn’t stop at English bangers and Polish sausage. We tried some heat-and-serve cheese biscuits and some comte cheese that we sampled over by the cheese case as well. I can’t wait to go back and get some marinated meat to bring home for dinner or just to sample and look over all the locally-produced foods.

The Butchers Market has three locations, this one in Raleigh, one in Cary, and another in Charlotte.
