Dominic’s was just what the hungry work lunch crowd needed on a sunny Friday. Once we eyed the cheesy white pizza with ribbons of spinach and chunks of tomato, all three of us had to try a slice as part of the lunch special. Despite that already tasty combination of toppings, it was really the fresh garlic, mozzarella and feta which put it over the top for me. I also had a slice of pepperoni – the special was $6 or so for two slices and a soda. Both pieces of pizza were thin crust, with that nicely crunchy NY style pizza bottom, but the peices are flappy so you can fold them in half if you’d like. The sauce is pure tomato, not too sweet and not spicy. I wonder how they stack up to Fuhgeddaboudit Pizza, the new NY style place at Six Forks. We’ll see!

My only regret is perhaps not trying a cannoli. Oh and taking a tasty pic for you. Since the pizza had mostly vanished by the time I thought of it.

Basic neighborhood take-out Italian food. I’ve tried the alfredo pasta and some Greek from here, both mediocre. A calzone was just ok as well. But I love the cheesesteak (and I am from Philly). The rolls are great. Plus every day they have lunch specials that are about $5 which is super cheap.

It may not sound like it but this place is a great stop to make for breakfast. We came here for a second breakfast after hubby was unable to eat most of what was served at the bed and breakfast for breakfast. I didn’t really think ahead there. Anyhow we stopped off here and I had a biscuit with sausage gravy (white gravy) and Glen ordered a egg, toast and sausage patty special. This came out to $5 for both of us! And the sausage patty was super tasty as well as my biscuit and gravy. They were also taking tons and tons of phone orders for food for people to pick up later in the day.

Mellow Mushroom has amazingly tasty pizza with a feather soft crust. The claim to fame, according to the pizza box, is using fresh spring water and hand tossing the dough. The gourmet pizza selection is tasty (Kosmic Karma and other funky sounding choices) but they also have a nice selection of fresh salads, hoagies, calzones and etc.

We came most recently on a Friday night and the wait for a table was 40 minutes! Most people prefer to sit on the nice outdoor patio, but we were able to get a table right away at the bar. We left after experiencing good service, a choice of ten or so beers on tap, and full bellies!

There is a new pizza place in town and I just got to check it out.  It's at the intersection of Federal and Linton, in there with the Original Pancake House.  The pizza are different from those I have had before, but potentially closest to a chicago style pizza.  The crust is thick around the outsides but gets thinner in the middle, then lots of toppings are piled on, and a delicious combination of cheeses.  They don't have slices, but they do have 8" or 10" personal pizzas.  They also have wraps, subs, and salads in bread bowls, and an option for a whole wheat pizza crust, which is admirable.  Definitely worth a try for a tasty lunch or dinner.  Check out their website for pics and the menu.

Best pizza in Delray Beach

Pizza Rustica has the thin crust and brick oven flavor I've been looking for since I came to Florida. They specialize in "Roman style" pizza, and have many gourmet and traditional toppings to choose from.

Their site says that they deliver, but we have found that sometimes we have to go pick up our order. Pizza Rustica is a small place, tastefully decorated on the inside, with a few sidewalk tables for dining as well. You won't go back to Papa John's! Website has menu.

The food in this humble pizza joint is consistently good. I like to come here when I am back in my hometown for some great cheesesteaks, strombolis, or some fried ravioli appetizers. The interior is small and basic and the parking can get crazy sometimes.  But even at breakfast, the selection is simple yet satisfying, and includes an option of a Steak Poppy (basically a cheesesteak with scrambled eggs in it) on a delicious Italian hoagie roll.  Yummm…

Thanks Urbanspoon buddy Laura for writing your review, I never knew they served breakfast! I got to try a Steak Poppy and next time maybe the Pizza Quiche. Yay!

Cheap little pizza shop that knows cheesesteaks

Mike's is right around the corner from my parents house and they have decent pizza and great cheesesteaks. It's simple inside, with your plastic booths and a tiny arcade area. But the prices are right and the food fills the tummy.
