Buffalo Brothers

August 31

2 out of 5 stars

Buffalo Brothers just opened a new location near Rex Hospital, so hubs and I decided to go check it out. Unfortunately Buffalo Brothers ended up fitting the generic sports bar mold. Lots of TVs, drink specials, and uninspired food. Not that I was hoping for the latest gastronomic techniques. Just good pizza and wings. I feel like a dummy trying to critique this meal, but when I saw the menu I had high hopes. I was deciding between pizza and a prime rib sub! The pizza was recommended by the waitress.

First the pizza. I ordered a personal-sized Italian, a white pizza with ricotta and mozzarella as well as tomatoes, meatball and sausage. The crust was thin and flavorless, almost like matzoh bread. The toppings were plentiful but just didn’t help revive the crust.

Hubs ordered the spicy garlic parmesan wings, which were also low on flavor. They were a little spicy but the garlic parm flavor didn’t come through very well. His side salad, however was fresh.

This might be a good place to catch a game. The service was good, but the namesake food didn’t impress. However, perhaps you should give it a shot for yourself. It seems many in the Triangle disagree with me!

Dominic’s NY Pizza

August 28

5 out of 5 stars

Dominic’s was just what the hungry work lunch crowd needed on a sunny Friday. Once we eyed the cheesy white pizza with ribbons of spinach and chunks of tomato, all three of us had to try a slice as part of the lunch special. Despite that already tasty combination of toppings, it was really the fresh garlic, mozzarella and feta which put it over the top for me. I also had a slice of pepperoni – the special was $6 or so for two slices and a soda. Both pieces of pizza were thin crust, with that nicely crunchy NY style pizza bottom, but the peices are flappy so you can fold them in half if you’d like. The sauce is pure tomato, not too sweet and not spicy. I wonder how they stack up to Fuhgeddaboudit Pizza, the new NY style place at Six Forks. We’ll see!

My only regret is perhaps not trying a cannoli. Oh and taking a tasty pic for you. Since the pizza had mostly vanished by the time I thought of it.

Pizzamerica

December 14

3 out of 5 stars

Basic neighborhood take-out Italian food. I’ve tried the alfredo pasta and some Greek from here, both mediocre. A calzone was just ok as well. But I love the cheesesteak (and I am from Philly). The rolls are great. Plus every day they have lunch specials that are about $5 which is super cheap.
